Writing my last year review I got carried away to list out places I ended up eating last year so I decided to create another post. There is no fancy Michelin star places in my list. Some of them are chain restaurants, which doesn’t make them less nicer and enjoyable. Here it goes
GB Pizza Co – Margate – on the Margate seafront. Small pizzeria. Using British/local suppliers. Dogs are welcome. Friendly service. I had Pear and British Blue Cheese Pizza on the ricotta base – absolutely wonderful.
Honest Burgers – Cambridge – it’s the 25 restaurants chain place but I could say it’ the best burger I had. They also selling local beers. And at Cambridge they also sell local gin, which apparently was beautiful, according to my friend (I was designated driver 🙁 ) simple menu but full of taste. All of their restaurants also have one burger which is local.
We had a burger with beef, smoked Cheddar Gorge cheese, smoked bacon, apple & onion chutney, pickles, mixed leaves – divine.
Franco Manca Pizza – London Victoria – another chain place I visited first time and will definitely go back. Once started in Brixton Market they have 34 restaurants in London now and few more outside of the capital, and even 1 in Italy. The prices are reasonable, pizzas are on sourdough base, ingredients are sourced carefully selected suppliers from Italy and UK (read more about them in their web page). I had pizza with Gloucester old spot ham (home cured), mozzarella, buffalo ricotta & wild mushrooms (little tomato) – just lovely.
Giggling Squid – Sevenoaks – again, chain place, which doesn’t mean it’s can’t be good. All their restaurants are beautifully designed. Sevenoaks one is in the building which once upon a time was church. I had Giant Butterfly King Prawn Pad Thai and it was beautiful.
Rae Meierei – Tallinn – What a lovely experience that was! Hidden on the top floor of very tacky touristy restaurant in Tallinn. It’s the restaurant and cheese factory in the heart of the old town. It has industrial interior. You can buy cheese to take home and I definitely suggest Burrata – just so soft and beautiful texture. From starters their baked halloumi with strawberry salad and raspberry mustard was just perfect.
Sometimes they have 2 goats wandering around restaurant and you can see through the massive window, when they are making cheese.

Lammas & Lest – Hiiumaa -I wasn’t sure I mention this place in Hiiumaa, second biggest island in Estonia. Not because of the quality of the food and cooking,but because of their excessive use of sweet potatoes in most of their dishes in last summer. But the meat was cooked perfectly. So I think you should definitely give them try.
